IT’S POSSIBLE

IT’S POSSIBLE

Do you have a dream or goal you want to accomplish? I’m living proof anything is possible. Our personal achievements keep us alive. Progress is what the doctor ordered. I’ve notice from experience that being uncomfortable has been instrumental to my journey.  This year I will be competing for the world championship of public speaking in Washington D.C. This is how the journey started
18 months ago I began my journey to make it to the world championship of public speaking. My first ever 1-minute speech had nine umms..  ummm.. ummm.. That right there would discourage anyone from moving forward, but not me.  Quitting was not an option. This bad experience only fueled my passion.  I learned after that day that feeling uncomfortable equals success. ”
IF YOUR DREAMS DON’T SCARE YOU, THEY’RE NOT BIG ENOUGH”
I forgot to mention that public speaking is the #1 fear in the world. So my dream of making it to the world championship of public speaking not only puts me in an uncomfortable position but scares the hell out of me. So 3 months after my Ummm…  Ummm.. incident they ask me if I wanted to enter a speech contest. My mind was playing tricks on me trying to convince me that I wasn’t ready for this which I probably wasn’t but I said YES! regardless. This decision was the defining moment in my life. Me saying YES got me uncomfortable and scared which equals progress.
I won my first club contest by 1 point. I was so excited even though only 8 people showed up for the contest. The second contest, I won 1st place, this time, there were 70 people in the audience. The contest after that which was the division finals I got 2nd place. I did not make it to the championship that year but it made me a believer that anything is possible if you believe. I competed against good speakers that had  5-10 years experience and I did well. I had only been doing it for 3-4 months. That’s when I decided to keep going and not give up. Quitting was not an option.
Well, this year I competed again and I won all 4 contest. I’m headed to the Washington D.C. world championship of public speaking. Instead of speaking in front of 8 people like when I first started I will speak in front of 2500 people.
The message I want to send to everyone is DONT GIVE UP We sometimes start projects and if we don’t see any results in 6 months we quit. If you have a dream or goal you want to accomplish it’s POSSIBLE. I’ll tell you right now it’s not going to be easy. it’s going to be hard but well worth it. Here are some of the changes I had to make in order to accomplish my goal of reaching the world championship.
1. I started hanging out with people that supported me physically, mentally and spiritually. Remove all the haters and naysayers from your life. You want your life to change you need to make some moves. Anything is possible. ‘ Birds of a feather flock together” negative attracts negative. ”misery loves company”. Negative people will disrupt your dream or goal you are pursuing.
2.  I started focusing on one thing and one thing only. Let’s stop trying to do 3 different things at once. FOCUS on one goal or one dream only and put all your energy behind it to make it happen. Back in the day, I was trying to wear 3 different hats. For 20 years it never worked. As soon as I started focusing on one thing MAGIC started happening. Pick one thing and run with it and don’t look back.
3. You have to BELIVE that it’s possible. Convince your mind that you are capable of achieving greatness. If you believe it in your mind you will have it in your hand. Doubt is the #1 dream killer. If doubt enters your mind you’re done. Tell yourself every morning It’s possible. I have been telling myself in the mirror that I was a champion speaker and it worked. Before anyone believes it YOU have to believe it.
You have the power to achieve greatness. Start making changes in your life that will propel you to the next level. You are stronger than you think. Have faith that it will happen and it will.
You got this.
IT’S POSSIBLE
